A Year Off Aloha Style!

Sooo I decided that since my school is finished in August and I will have my Associates in Business Administration that I am going to take the rest of the year off and enjoy living in Hawaii! Some people call it laziness, I call it soaking up life while you can!! I mean we are only going to be here in Hawaii for one more year, I want to enjoy it while I still can. This last year has been nothing but homework! Online schools have more homework than traditional schools because they are accelarated. What was I thinking..LOL!

The sadness that surrounds us.

We went for a family bike ride last night, and on our way back we ran into our neighbor across the street. We were making polite conversation when she mentioned the death of two Marines that live in our neighborhood. It is absolutely heartbreaking because they left behind children and a wife. I just shook my head not because I can't believe it but because I don't want to. I always have to accept the possibility that surrounds my husbands choice of career...death. I don't accept it willingly though. I think I am in denial the majority of the time. Everyone thinks that just because I was a Marine that I agree with the war and what is going on...but I don't (at all). All I can think about is all the women I have come across here and there that lost their husbands. All the praying in the world does not make anyone invincible. They use this line "Your husband died making the ultimate sacrifice for his country." If someone said that to me I think I would slap them. Like saying that is going to make anything better for the wives and kids that are left behind to pick up all the shattered little pieces of their lives.

Lazy weekend

Not much going on this weekend. Friday night Camilo and I went out bike riding....we rode about 6 miles decided we were hungry and stopped at the China Garden. So much for exercise :) But hey we did have to ride the bikes back home! On the way home we saw our friends garage door open so we stopped in for a visit. Our friend Jairo just got a new bar in his garage and he has like two tvs in there. So we chilled in there for a while. Saturday we went to the mall and Sunday we headed out to Kailua Beach with Jairo and Claudia. I got a little too much sun again! You would think I would use more sunscreen....http://www.hawaiiweb.com/oahu/beaches/kailua_beach_park.htm

I am sooo glad it is Friday!!!

What a week! It seems like I had a million things going on and no time for any of it! Homework sucked big time...what else is new? I had this presentation to compile about a fictional business I would like to start....whatever, don't get me started. It is easy for me to do presentations on a subject that I can research...but if it is one I have to invent....forget it. Anyway today I am going to chill out and maybe go for a bike ride if the weather is good. :) Watched a good movie called History of Violence last night...I highly recommend it!

Beach Bums

Weather was good yesterday, so we headed out to the beach that is like five minutes from the house. It was just a little too windy for my taste and we couldn't get in the water...because of the currents and the jellyfish. Oh well we got to watch the surfers wipe out (which is always a good source of entertainment). Matthew had fun throwing sand on everyone....
I got a mild sunburn on my shoulders..because I am soooooo white. Here are some pics from yesterday.. Notice the sand that is getting tossed around by the little sand man.

Good Easter

Today was a good day! We went to Waikiki for lunch..(a very non-traditional Easter) and took some touristy pictures. It was a nice beautiful sunny day! Later that evening Camilo bought me a new bike...yeah! Seriously I haven't hopped on a bike since I was like 12...so it has been awhile. Matthew got a new bike trailer to go in the back of Camilo's bike..for now. It is like a little house...tooo pimped out! So we went for a bike ride around 8 pm with some serious windage to deal with...but it was fun and now my butt hurts. I think I'll do it again tomorrow!!!

Busy weekend!

Friday we went to a Mexican restaurant called Mariachis...really good. Saturday I had to go out to eat again.....but there is a reason why....my friend Jen and I were supposed to see a U2 concert last night..but is was cancelled. Go figure! So we decided to go out just the two of us. We headed to the Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki...bad idea. It was a 70 minute wait. I picked up some cheesecake anyway as a peace offering to Camilo. We ended up eating at the Outback...hey we wanted some steak! We got home around 11:00 p.m., I went to bed around 1:00 in the morning. Sunday we woke up and went to the car show at the Hawaii Convention Center. Pretty cool cars. Camilo loves loves the Land Rovers. I like the Subaru Tribeca B9...the interior is sooo cool. We are looking into getting a Nissan Murano sometime in the future, so it was a good chance to see all the features. We will never never I repeat never buy a mini-van. We are just too cool for mini-vans :) After the car show we headed to my friend Sara's for a cook-out. It was fun to see the adults hitting each other with water balloons while the kids are looking at them like they are retarded. Anyway came home and started cleaning the house frantically because I had waaaay too much caffeine. I had my favorite coffee....White Chocolate Mocha with rasberry syrup and whipped cream from Starbucks....yummilicious!

No but seriously, I have a lot of homework this week and I just spent half the day goofing off. Seriously I don't feel like doing homework today....sigh. Why can't I just be rich....seriously. Woe is me! The good news is that the sun is shining in all of its glory today!! A shot out to the sun gods!

40 Days and 40 Nights

40 days and 40 nights of rain in Oahu!!! Seriously is there some sort of sun dance? Yesterday I woke up the sound of thunder shaking the house. Madness! 50M gallons of raw sewage flowed into Waikiki closing all of the beaches. Nice. I don't think I will be swimming any time soon. Camilo went spearfishing yesterday despite the weather and he paid for it. When he was trying to come back to shore, the water was so rough that it kept pushing him back. He lost my split fins in the process. The water just ripped them off. He lost his buoy as well. With no fins, a spear gun and only one hand to swim with, it took him about 20 minutes to finally get to shore. Needless to say I had to dig a nice chunk of rock out of his heel later that night. I am grateful that he is a powerful experienced swimmer who doesn't panic!!
